Your STEPS to becoming a recognised specialist in Germany:

  1. Examination of qualification certificates: we check your qualification for compatibility with a German reference occupation or qualification free of charge and inform you of the result. Please contact us and we will tell you which documents we need for the examination.
  2. Recognition of foreign educational qualifications: we coordinate the recognition process (process duration: 2 - 3 months). Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of recognition attesting to the equivalence of your qualification. During this time, you will complete an online German course for which we will register you.
  3. Direct placement: you will be employed in a field of activity corresponding to your qualification. You sign a direct employment contract with the employer. We arrange a video interview beforehand so that you can get to know the company.
  4. Visa to start work: you will receive all the documents and evidence you need to apply for a German work visa.
  5. Onboarding programme: during the first three months of employment, we will support you on site - picking you up when you arrive, accompanying you when you go to the authorities, registering you and enrolling you in the social security system.

Process duration:

The total process duration depends largely on the type of qualification and the country of origin and can vary between 3 - 6 months. If you do not require recognition of your educational qualification, the process duration is reduced to 1-3 months.

FAQ

What is a recognition procedure?

"The Skilled Workers Immigration Act" gives foreign skilled workers the right to have their educational qualification checked for equivalence with the German reference occupation. Recognition thus means that a foreign professional qualification is legally equivalent to a German professional qualification and is thus recognised in Germany.

What are the advantages of the recognition procedure?

Recognition creates comparability with German educational qualifications. As a result, foreign professionals can position themselves on the labour market as recognised professionals.

For whom is the recognition procedure suitable?

The recognition procedure is suitable for skilled workers and specialists who have acquired an official educational qualification in their home country. The training must be of at least two years' duration.

Is it possible to work in Germany as a skilled worker or specialist from a third country even without a recognition procedure?

This is possible under certain conditions. Such prerequisites are, for example, at least two years of professional experience for specialists in non-regulated professions at a certain salary threshold or, for example, positive evaluations of the educational institution and the university degree in the ANABIN database. There are also exceptions for IT professions. Let us advise you on this.

What requirements must skilled workers from third countries fulfil in order to be allowed to work in Germany?

In addition to a recognised (or partially recognised) educational qualification, foreign skilled workers (third countries) need an employment contract or a letter of intent from the employer, the approval of the Federal Employment Agency (does not apply to Blue Cards) and a corresponding visa to take up employment.

Which nationals need a work permit?

For all EU citizens as well as citizens of the EEA and Switzerland, the "freedom of movement for workers" applies in Germany. They therefore do not need a special work permit (authorisation to take up gainful employment). Third-country nationals are granted a work permit by the Aliens' Registration Office with a note in their residence permit. Persons from third countries need this permit to be allowed to work in Germany.
